Volunteer of the Week - Connor (Norm) O'Brien

This weeks Volunteer of the Week goes to Connor ‘Norm’ O’Brien.

The O’Brien family have been great supporters/volunteers/sponsors for many seasons since Connor started in our Auskick program years ago, so they are all no stranger to getting their hands dirty.

Connor and his 3 lovely sisters are often found early on Sunday mornings helping their parents set up for the days junior games.

This Sunday passed, Connor stepped it up a notch. Not only did he put his hand up to boundary umpire his sister Caitlin’s Under 11 footy match, due to a lack of volunteers, he then came out with a dominant display for his Under 15’s team, of which he is the captain.

Norm, as he is affectionately known as, played the game in the true spirit in which it should be played, relentless running, always being a great teammate and fair at every contest against his opponents.

Not content with that, when everyone had left the club, he took it upon himself to clean the dirty change rooms and help put out the rubbish.
This is leadership at its finest, and a reason many at the club hope he can be one of the leaders of our next waive of Senior leaders for our firsts team in years to come.

What a great example and a great product of a good upbringing.

This weeks Volunteer of the Week, Connor ‘Norm’ O’Brien, not forgetting the contribution also of the entire O’Brien clan.
