Northern Saints Football Club COVID-19 Statement
As the COVID-19 Situation constantly evolves and announcements are coming through so frequently, it is time to update you all on how our club is trying to deal with this ever changing scenario moving forward.
The AFL and it’s metropolitan leagues decided to suspend the start of the 2020 back till the 31st of May.
The governing bodies will reconvene on the 14th of April to reassess and reevaluate this, and other decisions for season 2020.
Ultimately, as a club, we will wait for direction and instructions from firstly the Australian Government, the AFL and the EDFL.
We ask, in the meantime, our members heed the constantly updated advice and instructions being put in place, which are being implemented to ensure the safety of our community and to try and stop the spread.
These are very unique circumstances the world is facing currently, and now more than ever, is the moment we need to stick together.
Simple things like staying at home, keeping a safe distance from others, wearing appropriate safety equipment, and constantly washing your hands are the bare minimum we should all be doing.
Our committee has also been working behind the scenes, safely, to ensure we handle this situation as best as possible.
Financial Position
Until the financial repercussions are known, we can not make a final decision on memberships for 2020.
However, our business continues to run, as close to normal as possible.
Some bills do continue to come in.
It has been announced that Moreland Council will waive all ground fees for 2020.
However, we have not yet received any updates from the EDFL and other suppliers.
For the time being, until we have it confirmed by the EDFL the financial concessions we might be given, we will hold off on a final decision in regards to memberships.
We do however understand, people may be pushed to the brink in the coming weeks, so if anyone who has already paid their membership fees for this season, is in desperate need, to contact the club via email to discuss their situation at treasurer@northernsaints.org.au.
We have already had one major sponsor advise us, that due to the current financial situation, that they will not recommit to the club for 2020, others will be sure to follow, however we do ask all members to continually support our club sponsors in this time of need.
Everyone will feel the hit that this virus has caused.
The club is also unfortunately amidst an injury claim that happened in 2018 at Mutton Reserve, which will definitely be some type of financial burden that the club could do without right now.
We are currently seeking legal advice in order to proceed.
Again, we will continue to provide updates to our members as soon as we possibly can, for the time being we ask you all to stay healthy and fit, and we ask to all to do your bit.
